WPR Drawing!
Sarai: So Becky, I got an idea.
Becky: No it was actually my idea, Sarai’s just trying to steal my thunder.
Sarai: I’ll let that one slide because I’m so excited.
Becky: Not as excited as me. My buttcheeks are tingling!
Sarai: So I was just browsing along, and I came upon a few WPR websites. Some are dead, some active, some on hiatus… but they all had one thing in common Becky! They all SUCK.
Becky: Yeah it’s hard to find a really good review site, in fact there are no real good review sites anymore. Then when the website isn’t even worth visiting, well it doesn’t do much for me.
Sarai: I’m tired of these point system having WPRs. Or those reviews that are 5 paragraphs long. Or just plain old bad advice. So I figure, why not show them how we’d do it?
Becky: I miss Mr. X’s reviews from acidgloss reviews and Morning Glory, or Honest Truth (didn’t you use to review there?).
Sarai: Yeah, I had my HTR moment. Good times.
Becky: I reviewed on Dorkie Reviews (owned by Emily of pixelfx.org)! I’m shutting up now.
Sarai: LOL I remember Dorkie!
Becky: If you’re wondering: yes I was a raging bitch back then, my reviews rarely ever got me any nice emails from the site owners.
Sarai: Since I love our visitors so much, and since we’re only doing one of these as an example, I thought it would be nice to have a little drawing. So here’s what we’re going to do.
If you want to submit your website for the drawing, use the comment form and provide a link to your website.
Keep in mind your website must:
1. Be your own (you can’t submit someone else’s website)
2. Have a valid e-mail address
3. Have an active website (no hiatus)
4. Have had your website open for a few weeks, at least
5. Your layout/design must be your own
In a couple of days, we’ll randomly select a website to review. In fact, we might even ask someone else to select a random number to make it interesting. Becky and I will then do a WPR-style review of your website, with a little twist (gotta spice things up), and show you guys how we think it should be done. Now, we’re not claiming to be WPR goddesses (actually, yes we are, but I’m trying this humility thing) so take our review with a grain of salt.
I’m pumped bitches!
Becky: Now before you get all excited and think that we’re going to “IP” you and your site, well, we aren’t. We’re going to review your site. There is a difference between IP’ing someone and reviewing them, although if you happen to resemble a sasquatch then I make no promises.
Sarai: Good thing to point out. Our goal isn’t to lulz — it’s to show you how a WPR should go about, with actual resources, good advice, and ideas that you can incorporate into your website.
Now with that said, there are some websites we won’t be doing:
1. No piczo/expage websites
2. No fansites or fanlistings
3. No blog-only websites
4. Websites with 72 subpages
5. Tutorial sites
6. Photoblogs or photography sites
7. Other WPRs
8. Blend challenge sites
Because there’s not much we can go on with those.
Becky: We want a website with some meat on its bones and preferably one that we haven’t already done.
Also, I’m not partial to tutorial only websites. Basically what I think we’re looking for is a typical personal site with a bit of content on it that we can sink our teeth into it.
Is that right, Sarai?
Sarai: Yes yes. So submit, y’all! And good luck.
Becky: Break and leg and so forth!
Comments
Oh, that’s interesting. I’ll ask Brianna about it (in regards to Truculent Reviews where her and I write reviews).
I used to have such a huge crush on Mr.X based on his reviews. But looking back on them, he could’ve gone easier on the insults.
You can be harsh without necessarily needing to resort to name calling. I’m referring to WPRs not your IP articles, which you say are not reviews :)
Neato! I love getting my site reviewed, so I’m submitting. :) Kudos also to the fact that your site works just fine in links, a text-only browser akin to lynx, which I’m using currently because it’s dark in this room and bright backgrounds are unpleasant, but with links everything has a black terminal background. :)

Add me to the list if you’d like. I’m always curious to know what I need to do to improve my site, and hopefully I can learn from you guys how to improve my own reviews that I give.
