Just to Clarify

Becky: Because most of our visitors aren’t from Snark we felt we should post a little something in response to the comments we’re getting on the last entry.
Sarai: I knew people would be shitting themselves with joy over the opportunity to call Becky and I complete hypocrites. I expected some people to do so, but god I hate when people put words in my mouth.
Becky: And I hate it when we’re all grouped together and treated like we’re sharing a brain. I also hate it when I’m accused of giving special treatment to someone when in reality I treat all my friends and enemies like crap.
Sarai: I just want to make it clear that contrary to what most of you may think, we don’t play favorites. Friends of ours in the past have fucked up and we’ve let them know. It’s cost me a few friends, and the same has happened to Becky, but I just have no tolerance for stupidity.
Over in Snark we had a thread talking about the very last post we put up, and many people brought up the fact that no matter what we were saying, I was still “defending” my friend. That’s a bunch of shit. I said no such thing. My friend knows how I feel about copyright infringement. However, my opinions on the subject is not going to force anyone to do anything, just like our opinions here on Internet Police only go so far.
Most of the people we talk about leave their sites exactly the same, and that’s because we can’t force others to do anything. We’re not the actual Internet Police, for your information. Just because I, or Becky, don’t particularly spend our hours worrying over the fact that someone made a graphic using illegal images (and knowing full well they did and speaking out on this directly), doesn’t mean we accept all copyright infringements. That’s fucking retarded.
I am no one’s parent here, and fuck you for thinking I have some control over their actions. Instead, maybe spend your precious time looking up “context” and “reading comprehension”.
Becky: I wonder if perhaps people would feel better if we told Brent publicly that what he is doing is illegal and wrong. A lot of the complaints seem to be that we are giving Brent some sort of special treatment (whether or not that is true is of no nevermind). So I’m going to go ahead and say: Brent, what you are doing is wrong and illegal and you could be arrested. You are stealing someone else’s work and using it without permission and some people think you should remove the theme because to them it’s as ethically wrong as stealing a layout and calling it your own. I don’t really see how stating the obvious is going to make any difference, but there you go.
Am I a hypocrite for believing that while it’s illegal, image theft isn’t on the same level as ripping off someone’s concept, layout or writing? Perhaps, but I think I can live with that. Now this is the part where I eat humble pie, I should have made my stance on copyright clearer in the first post so that there would have been less confusion (then it would have been more about how we both treat Brent specially). I view image theft as such a small offense that I didn’t even think of it whilst writing the last entry.
Sarai: I think stating it publicly won’t do much either, since Brent himself put in his two cents on the entire matter.
Becky: And even after that we were accused of giving him special treatment. Why? Because he’s our friend and he wasn’t put on IP (or on our blogs) for using a copyrighted image on a forum.
Sarai: Never mind the fact that wasn’t our initial goal. Our previous discussion here was not a Copyrights Infringement debate. If it was, we wouldn’t have included Daniel in the first place. We would have included uh, almost everyone on our blogging circle?
Becky: You’ve probably noticed that comments are closed, we feel that everything that needs to be said has been said and that there’s nothing more to say really.
Sarai: But if you really, really, want to, you can post your comments on the last entry. Please try not to repeat yourself? It’s annoying. At least read the latest comments that have been posted.
